With there being no options on the Sophos home application to close/exit I went into Windows Startup and stopped the app from having startup permissions and then restarted my PC, at a first glance this seemed to work as the Sophos icon was no longer in my system tray. how does this work? The options on the web portal also only seemed to be buttons to disable elements of the AV program, I don't want this - I want to disable the program from running completely without uninstalling. Another query I have is that navigation buttons on the app seem to redirect me to their website where there is a portal to control my account, despite the fact I have not registered an account. Unfortunately the app had no option for this. Instead I decided that I would opt to keep Sophos but not have it active on my system. Therefore, I do not want Sophos to run on my PC - I would uninstall the program however this would require me to reinstall and uninstall Sophos on a weekly basis. I don't know to what extent this is actually true but the general rule of thumb seems to be that having multiple AV programs can have a negative effect - the Sophos app its self claimed this. I already have an existing Antivirus, which I have paid for and trust to do the job well. I have been forced to install the free Sophos home onto my personal laptop device in order to perform weekly scans so that I can connect to a VPN for remote access to a site. r/talesfromtechsupport - Support stories from the trenches r/sysadmin - General Sysadmin topics and rants r/aww - For your support-related relief needs Sophos XG - Official How-to videos for the XGĭavid Okeyode - XG/UTM Cloud How-to videos Naked Security - Award-winning computer security news Posts from your own blog are welcome, as long as disclosure is made, they are relevant to the sub, and follow Reddit rules regarding self-promotion Posts should be related to Sophos as a company or its productsģ.
